After establishing and directing the dermatology and allergy service at the Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers, NY for nine years, she joined Riverdale Veterinary Dermatology in Riverdale, NJ for a five year period.
As a self-proclaimed “cat lady,” Dr. Budgin has a keen interest in feline dermatology, however she is also a true dog lover at heart. Her additional areas of interest include diet and nutrition in the management of allergic skin disease, treatment of drug resistant infections, and immune-mediated skin diseases. Dr. Budgin has published articles pertaining to veterinary dermatology in various journals and has presented at conferences throughout the world.
Dr. Budgin is the former treasurer, vice president, and president of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology (AAVD). She is also one of the very first members and has served on the organizing committee of the North American Veterinary Dermatology Forum for ten years. Dr. Budgin serves as the AAVD representative to the World Association of Veterinary Dermatology (WAVD) and contributes to the education committee of both the WAVD and the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA).
Additional appointments include member-at-large of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) and avid reviewer of the ACVD’s official journal, Veterinary Dermatology.
Finally, and very passionately, Dr. Budgin is co-coordinator of the Global Veterinary Dermatology Education Group, an independent international organization that supports, educates, and empowers veterinarians in underserved areas of the world with an interest in dermatology to lead local ongoing efforts in training and advancement.
Dr. Budgin lives in northern Manhattan with her orange tabby, Pema. Her hobbies include cooking, yoga, photography, and spending time outdoors.
Joe A. is a certified veterinary healthcare virtual assistant and a licensed veterinarian in the Philippines. Joe (Dr. Joe to us!) possesses strong communication and organizational skills essential for excelling in his role as a client service representative and veterinary scribe. With a keen appreciation for growth and excellence, Joe actively seeks ways to improve professionally. Outside of work, he finds joy in seeking adventure and new experiences, often spending quality time with family and pets – ask him about his Frenchies! Additionally, he maintains a healthy lifestyle through regular workouts, valuing an active and balanced life. Joe is a unique and very talented addition to our team!
A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Liz cannot imagine living anywhere else! A lifelong love of all animals was passed onto her from her Grandma. Liz remembers as a child, accompanying her to feed the stray cats by her home in North Wildwood, NJ. Liz started her veterinary career as a receptionist in a general practice when she was 18. Liz moved over to the technician side of the field about 2 years later. She then took a 2 year hiatus from the field to pursue an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. Upon graduating, she returned to veterinary medicine and has continued her career path utilizing the knowledge gained from her degree.
Liz has over 9 years experience in the dermatology specialty and when she is not working for Dr. Budgin at HVVD, she is gaining new knowledge while working for a veterinary ophthalmologist. Liz loves doing the behind the scenes work that goes into running a veterinary practice and is happy to utilize all of her combined knowledge that she has gained working for over 20 years in this field.
Liz shares her home with her crazy cat man husband, Eric, and 5 rescue cats. She enjoys walking, hanging out at home with her cats, finding new vegan restaurants, and enjoying the beach in the off season.
